Lake Norfork is one of the clearest, deepest reservoirs in the Ozarks, and it has a well-earned reputation among anglers. Whether you're after a cooler full of crappie or the striper of a lifetime, here's what's biting and how to get on fish from Crooked Hook Resort.
Norfork is famous for its striper and hybrid fishery. These hard-fighting fish school and chase shad, often busting the surface at dawn and dusk. Live bait under planer boards and topwater plugs both produce when the fish are up.
Both largemouth and smallmouth thrive around the lake's rocky points, bluff ends, and standing timber. Spring brings them shallow to spawn; in summer they slide deeper and feed early and late.
Slab crappie stack up on brush piles and around docks — including our own. Walleye round out the mix and are a prized cool-water catch, especially in spring and fall.
You don't have to go far: the cove in front of the resort and our private dock are great spots for crappie and bass, especially early morning and after dark. For striper and a wider range of water, head out to the main channel and points. New to the lake? We can set you up with a guided trip through STR Outfitters who know exactly where the fish are holding.
Just 15 minutes away, the White River and North Fork are world-class cold-water trout fisheries. If you want to mix a day of lake fishing with a trout float, see our guide to White River trout fishing.
The easiest way to fish Norfork right is to stay on it. Every cabin at Crooked Hook includes a full kitchen to cook your catch, a covered porch, and access to the dock and pool. Learn more about fishing on Lake Norfork or reach out to book your trip.
