What's biting in June

Striper move deep. Stripers seek 65-72°F water, which means they head deeper as surface temps climb. Live bait fished in 30-50 feet over main-lake structure. Trolling umbrella rigs becomes a primary technique.

Early-morning surface action. Before the sun gets high, stripers still surface-feed on shad in coves and over points. The window narrows to first light.

Largemouth on docks and brush. Largemouth head to shade. Docks, brush piles, and standing timber in 8-15 feet of water hold fish all day. Jigs and Texas-rigged worms.

Walleye go deep too. Walleye follow temperature into 25-40 foot main-lake humps and points. Crawler harnesses and jigging spoons.

Chuck’s tip

When summer hits, fish before sunrise and after sunset. Middle of the day, head to the dock with a cold drink and a book. The fish are deep and lethargic from 11am to 5pm anyway. Run your trips early and late.

Most June guests stay 3-5 days, which gives weather windows time to align. Our seven cabins sit on a quiet cove with private dock access — cast right from the dock at first light, or run anywhere on the lake in minutes.
